Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how i47i (the “blog,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects any personal information when you visit https://i47i.tk or interact with the site (e.g., leaving comments). We collect very little data, keep it under our direct control, and handle it responsibly—no big tech involvement.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what you voluntarily provide or what’s needed for basic site function and personal analytics:

  • Comment data: When you leave a comment, WordPress collects your name/username, email address, website (optional), comment content, and IP address (for spam moderation—standard for WordPress).
  • Analytics data via self-hosted Matomo: We use a self-hosted instance of Matomo (open-source, privacy-focused analytics) to understand visitor patterns—like where readers come from (countries/regions), popular posts, and basic usage stats. This is for my personal enjoyment and to improve content. Matomo is configured to respect privacy: IPs are anonymized (truncated), no cookies are used if cookieless mode is enabled, no fingerprinting or profiling occurs, and data stays on our server (no sharing with third parties). We collect aggregated stats like page views, referrers, browser types, and approximate locations—no personally identifiable details beyond anonymized basics.
  • No other collection: No ads, no trackers from Google/Facebook/etc., no newsletters/forms beyond comments, no financial data.

2. How We Use Your Information

Data is used only to:

  • Display/moderate comments.
  • Prevent spam/abuse.
  • Generate basic, anonymized site stats in Matomo (e.g., seeing interesting visitor origins—it’s fun for a solo blog!).
  • Improve the blog based on real patterns.

No marketing, selling, profiling, or AI training of your data.

3. Sharing and Disclosure

We don’t sell, rent, or share personal information. Limited exceptions:

  • Our hosting provider (for server operation and basic logs).
  • Matomo processes data on our own server—no external Matomo Cloud or third-party sharing.
  • If legally required (court order, etc.) or to protect rights/safety.
  • WordPress/Automattic may handle comment data per their policies (Akismet for spam if enabled).

4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Data lives on our hosting server (check your host for exact location—likely not in high-risk jurisdictions). We use reasonable security (updates, secure hosting). Comment data retained indefinitely (unless deleted/removed); Matomo analytics data retained as configured (e.g., months/years—short periods recommended for privacy). You can ask to delete your comment data anytime.

5. Your Rights

Under laws like GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), or similar, you may have rights to access, correct, delete your data (e.g., a comment), object to processing, or request portability. For Matomo stats, since it’s anonymized/aggregated, individual opt-out is via browser settings or Do Not Track signals (if supported). Email me at [your-email-here, e.g., scott@i47i.tk] with details—we’ll handle requests promptly (within 30 days where applicable). No formal DPO for this small personal site.

6. International Transfers

Managed from Thailand; data may process outside your country. We rely on adequate protections where needed (e.g., standard clauses if GDPR applies).

7. Children’s Privacy

Not directed at children under 16 (or 13 in some places). No knowing collection from kids.

8. Changes to This Policy

Updates posted here with new date. Check back occasionally.

9. Contact Us

Questions, rights requests, or feedback: Email [your-email-here].
